Blogging

Mostly, anything a junior higher would do on the internet is related with annoying, immature things. Expressing anger, sadness, a love for Justin Beiber have taken over facebook, myspace, and twitter. Yes, twitter. Who would have thought that this 140 character limited site isn't just for pastors and superstars.. Need proof? look over the last couple of blog posts that I posted when I was twelve.

Moving on.

I have traveled around four times this year, out of country, in country, by plane and by car. Somewhere, in the process of this jumbled up year, I have had kind of a revelation.

Revelation. The word is commonly associated with some new understanding or awakening. It's also the last book in the Bible, which depicts the Apocalypse and God setting up his Kingdom on Earth.

Yeah, I had one of those.

This year, I was privileged to travel overseas to a third world country on a missions trip. Said trip was to take place fifteen days in length, and would require almost twenty four hours in traveling going and coming. We were going to hold crusades (where I would play guitar), visit churches, and connect with the people.

Enter me.

A thirteen year old who's family loves these people, These people love my family.

I'm American, they are not.

I'm the outsider.

I'm in their land.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

Upon landing in the capital city, we where greeted by a tour bus to transport us to the hotel, the chief of police, and our driver. It was around 9 or 10 o'clock at night when we finally loaded up all the bags and headed to our hotel. It was dead night, so I couldn't really see the poverty.

But dawn brings new light, doesn't it?

The first thing i noticed was the traffic. At any one point in time on a interstate, you could reach right outside your window and touch the other bus, van, or car beside you. Nothing like looking up and there be a man or woman, staring at you with their head cocked as if to say, "Who is this albino in my country?" I don't blame them, because over there, it isn't a common occurrence for there to be a tour bus full of twenty white people going from place to place.

Defiantly not a common thing.

Throughout the trip, we would see extreme poverty. Things like my fellow pastor kids sleeping on hard sheets of wood. Pastors struggling to feed their families. Things that you only read about. And then it occurred to me, the facts of America being in the top eight percent of the world, the facts of there not being clean water in entire cities, the facts that kids were dying in the streets everyday of hunger, of thirst,

here they were.

I was looking at them, interacting with them.

And it wasn't just ordinary people in this poverty.
These where people of MY faith. Spreading the name of Jesus to any and everyone.

And doing an amazing job at it.

One thing that stood out most to me was these people's worship. They worship with absolutely 100% of their ability, every time. whether they where tired, sick, hungry, thirsty, they worshiped, 24/7.

I guess that's the revelation that I received, that luxury has numbed us to the fact of God's pure amazing love for us. The fact that with luxury, comes a price.

But what do I know. I'm just a kid.

old war movies can be SERIOUSLY corny. for instance. when it is a big battle scene, they usually show some old war footage that you definatly know shouldn't be in there. oh and the dialouge! for instance.

Army

"Alright men! we got the japs/krauts on the run! let's get em!!! *ROAR!!!*

Japan/German General

"These Americanaoes will never defeat our supperiority! we will win! for the fatherland/empire!!!" *ROAR!!!!*

Army

"We're winning! I just saw a German/Jappenise general fall down in defeat!

Japan/German Major

"FALL BACK! FALL BACK!! WE ARE LOSING!! DON'T LET THEM TAKE YOU ALIVE!!!"
